‘WandaVision’ Director Matt Shakman In Talks To Helm Marvel’s ‘Fantastic Four’ Movie

EXCLUSIVE: After announcing the Avengers: The Kang Dynasty at this year’s Comic Con, Marvel Studios looks to have found the writer who will now pen the highly-anticipated film. Sources tell Deadline, Jeff Loveness, who recently wrote Ant-Man and Wasp: Quantumania, will pen Avengers: the Kang Dynasty for Marvel. Loveness will join Destin Daniel Cretton, who was recently set as director on the project with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige producing.

Marta Balaga Finnish director Klaus Härö makes his English-language debut with Toronto Film Festival premiere “My Sailor, My Love.” A gentle drama about a retired sea captain falling in love one last time will be spotlighted at the Helsinki-based event Finnish Film Affair next. Global Screen is handling the sales. Härö, an experienced filmmaker behind Golden Globe-nominated “The Fencer,” didn’t feel “desperate” to make a movie in English, he says.  “I hope it doesn’t feel forced. With English, there is always this thought that maybe this way, it will reach more people. But it just felt natural to set it in Ireland.”  

Goldman Sachs conference on Monday, Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel said that his company is in talks with Amazon Studios and Netflix about their plans for releasing films in theaters. “We are having conversations with Amazon about, is it going to be 15 days, 25 days, day-and-date? There is no one way or another,” he said. “Certain movies even on Netflix now, they are going to do four weeks in theaters … There is no set model right now, because they are still figuring it out.”The same could probably be said for almost all of Hollywood’s major studios.

Nick Vivarelli International Correspondent Iranian actor Leila Hatami, best known outside her country for her role in Asghar Farhadi’s Oscar-winning “A Separation,” will soon be back on international movie screens in Iranian-British director Mehdi Norowzian’s metaphysical drama “A Time in Eternity” which recently wrapped in Iran. “There isn’t one scene without me,” Hatami told Variety, speaking on the sidelines of the just concluded Venice Film Festival where she was a member of the main jury. The London-based Norowzian, who was Oscar-nominated for his 1999 short “Killing Joe” and subsequently directed Joseph Fiennes, Elizabeth Shue, Dennis Hopper and Sam Shepherd in the 2002 drama “Leo,” has since become a prominent commercials director. Norowzian recently returned to Iran to shoot this film, which is his first feature after two decades.

Tim Roth says he isn’t so sure that his much-publicized “She-Hulk: Attorney At Law” scene with Mark Ruffalo made the final cut. In a new interview, the actor — who starred opposite Edward Norton in Marvel’s first standalone Hulk film and reprises his role as Emil Blonsky/Abomination in the new series — says he’s not sure viewers will see the scene, which he says cheekily plays up Marvel’s recasting of the gargantuan superhero when Ruffalo took over from Norton starting with 2012’s “The Avengers.” “I’ve always wanted to work with him, and it just happened to be this, which was kind of fun,” Roth told The Hollywood Reporter.
