Greater Manchester cinema launching new horror film season for Halloween

With Halloween just around the corner, a Greater Manchester cinema has announced details of its new horror offering. Chapeltown Picture House (CHP) in Cheetham Hill will be putting on a number of cult horror classics over Halloween week as part of their ‘STAB’ film season.
The series begins on October 27 and runs through to Halloween. The season will kick off with the annual screening of The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue (1974), and a very special Halloween edition of the Manchester Amateur Gaming League (MAGL) - CPH’s sell out sensation where teams of four play an eclectic mix of videogames on the big screen to win big prizes.
Jason Bailey, Director of GRUB & CPH, says: “Audiences always flock to our little cinema over the Halloween period, our beloved annual tradition has always been a screening of Jorge Glau’s classic The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue; but as CPH’s programme and bums on seats are constantly growing, now is the time to create a larger big screen cinema tradition for Manchester audiences over Halloween weekend.”

The STAB programme is made up of a diverse selection of films, featuring both classics and cult hits alike. Horror icons Hellraiser (1987), Poltergeist (1982), and the British zombie masterpiece 28 Days Later (2002) will grace the big screen once again for audiences looking to fill their Halloween with classics. CPH have also teamed up with local comedy heroes ‘A Lovely Time’ to present a quiz dedicated to the Treehouse of Horror episodes of The Simpsons, which will test even the most Frink-like Springfield experts.
