He has faced criticism for being one of the hierarchy to oversee big-money transfers that have failed to live up their valuation over the past 18 months. Lindelof, who has been at United since 2017, said Arnold is a person he is fond of Arnold and pledged to give him a personal send-off.
Speaking about how he heard of his forthcoming exit, Lindelof told Fotbollskanalen: “I just received an SMS about it. He [Arnold] is a person I like very much.
“I think he did very well and represented the club in a nice way. It is sad that he has to leave. (I will) call or text him later to thank him in person.”
