Sir Jim Ratcliffe is expected to have his 25 per cent stake in Manchester United ratified before the first team return from the international break.
The INEOS billionaire is set to dish out £1.3billion and reports suggest he will spend an added £245m on infrastructure investment. Ratcliffe, a lifelong United fan, is due to take over sporting control of the club in a proposition many fans have welcomed.
However, some have vowed to continue protesting against the current owners. It is almost a year since the Glazers announced the club was up for sale and many had hoped that it would signal the start of the end of their time at the club.

Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al-Thani’s withdrawal from the takeover race ended the chances of the Glazers giving up their majority. Ratcliffe was the only bidder left and he had pivoted from a majority stake bid to a small share proposal.
United fan group The 1958 announced fresh protests against the Glazers on Thursday ahead of Saturday’s clash with Luton Town at Old Trafford. Supporters stood outside Old Trafford with ‘Glazers Out’ banners while chanting against the American owners.
United’s share price on the New York Stock Exchange has been slowly sinking all week as the process drags on. The valuation started at $18.61 when the market opened on Monday but by Friday close it was at $18.10.
The price dipped to as low as $17.81 on Friday before rebounding. The final hours of the trading week showed a slight uptick. This may be due to the news that Ratcliffe is due to complete his investment in United during the international break.
