Cristiano Ronaldo has been tipped for a shock return to England after leaving Manchester United last year - with a move to Newcastle touted for the Portugal legend.
Ronaldo returned to Old Trafford in 2021, 12 years after his first spell at United came to an end. He impressed in his first season back at the club despite the side's struggle under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick but a dismal second season where he scored just three goals in 16 games under Erik ten Hag saw the 38-year-old leave following a controversial interview with Piers Morgan.
In his bombshell chat with the TV presenter, Ronaldo heavily criticised the club, the Glazer family and manager Ten Hag. It came after Ronaldo refused to come off the bench during United's 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in October, instead storming down the tunnel and being temporarily banished from the first-team squad.

He signed for Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr after his United contract was terminated and has 35 goals in 41 games for the nine-time title-winning side from Riyadh. Newcastle, meanwhile, are owned by the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund (PIF), with plenty Middle East-based players now being linked with the Magpies.
Several injuries and a ban for marquee signing Sandro Tonali for gambling-related offences are putting pressure on Newcastle - and the likes of Ruben Neves and other players have been linked with a move to St. James' Park.
