An urgent emergency services and mountain rescue response was sparked over concerns for the welfare of a girl at a quarry in Rochdale.
Police officers, paramedics and crews from the Oldham Mountain Rescue Team were called to Newhey Quarry at around 5pm on Sunday afternoon (November 12). A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said officers responded to reports of 'concern for the welfare of a teenage girl'.
Mountain rescuers said the girl had to be 'evacuated' from the quarry after suffering a 'medical condition'. They used a 4x4 vehicle to help take her to safety.

She was then handed over to paramedics on the scene. A post on the Oldham Mountain Rescue Team Facebook page yesterday said: "Incident 12/11/23.
"At tea time on Sunday, as the rain was coming down, we received an urgent request from North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust for assistance with the evacuation of a young female who was suffering from a medical condition in Newhey Quarry. Paramedics were already on scene but, due to the nature of the location, had identified that the best way out would be in one of our 4x4 vehicles.
"After accessing the quarry in one of our trusty Land Rovers, we managed to drive straight to the casualty site. She was then loaded into the vehicle and driven back down to the waiting NWAS ambulance for further assessment.
"15 OMRT personnel were involved for just over 1 hour 30 minutes."
