Nestled in the Peak District is a beautiful historic hall which is hosting a Christmas market with a difference this festive season. Shoppers can immerse themselves in the magical setting of a 900-year-old fortified manor house and browse artisan stalls.
Haddon Hall, a mediaeval and Tudor house, comes into its own in the run up to Christmas. Twinkling lights, decorations and roaring fires gives it a magical atmosphere and one that guarantees to put you in a Christmassy mood.
In the run up to the big Haddon Hall is hosting its Mercatum Christmas Artisan Markets across several long weekends in November and December. It’s a chance to look for gifts you wouldn’t find on the high street.

Marquees will be located both outdoors within the hall’s courtyard and on the Fountain and Bowling Green terraces of the gardens. There will also be stalls located inside the hall.
This year there’s a mix of returning traders and new makers, so you might be able to find favourite gifts from previous years, as well as coming across new items. You can turn up on the day for the markets, or you can book a ticket in advance, which cost £9.50 for adults (including parking), £2.50 for children aged 5-15, and children 0-4 go free.
The markets are running on the following dates: November 23, 24, 25 and 26 ;November 30; December 1, 2, and 3; December 7, 8, 9 and 10. Tickets (non refundable) can be bought for the morning (9.30am - 1pm) or afternoon (1.30pm to 5pm) sessions. Dogs are not permitted.
