The chilly temperatures will bring some flakes of snow to some parts of the UK, but it won't be widespread. A Met Office spokesperson told the Manchester Evening News: "Temperatures are turning much colder by the end of the week as a cold front will sink southwards through Thursday introducing the colder air from the north. Much of the UK will be under the influence of higher pressure though so largely dry with showers mostly in Scotland and some eastern coasts.
"Any snow will most likely fall on the mountains of Scotland with perhaps a dusting to some lower spots.
"Elsewhere with settled conditions we can expect to see a widespread frost overnight on Saturday and Sunday morning. Thereafter, it looks like milder air will try to push in from the west introducing nearer to average temperatures."
