Two men have been arrested after two people were found dead at a tower block in Edinburgh. Emergency services raced to a report of an alleged incident at a flat in Greendykes Road, Niddrie, after the alarm was raised at around 8.25pm on Tuesday, November 1.
Cops confirmed two men were pronounced dead at the scene. The force have launched a probe into the deaths.
A 65-year-old man and a 40-year-old man have now been arrested in connection. Police say enquiries into the alleged incident are continuing.
Shocked neighbours spoke of their horror at what had happened in the high-rise. Speaking to Edinburgh Live, one local said he thought a father and son lived in the flat where the bodies were found.
He added: "There was a boy next door they were friendly with and they were always really nice to him. At 5pm there was one police car there. Then I went up to watch the footy but when I came back down around 9.30pm, there were police everywhere.£
The man said the area has started to earn a bad reputation for violence lately. He added: "This place is becoming terrible. A boy was killed in May just around the corner from here.
"It's shocking as I was coming home with my granddaughter when I first found that something had happened. Trouble is rife around here and police seem to do nothing."
Greendykes House is still currently cordoned off as cops continue their investigations. A nearby footpath was also sealed off.
Police supervised a white car as it was removed from the scene earlier today. It's understood officers were knocking on doors and questioning locals, as well as tracking the movements of residents leaving the premises.
