A tiny cabin serving dumplings and other Vietnamese delights out of a hatch has been named as one of the best street food eats in the north - and it’s less than an hour’s drive away from Manchester.
Oi Dumplings, run by couple Mollie Power and Maisie Davies, opened last year in the picturesque village of Marsden in Kirklees, West Yorkshire.
Serving Vietnamese-inspired delights, such as ginger chicken loaded wontons, xôi xéo sticky rice, peanut loaded fries, and, of course, plenty of dumplings, the little cabin venue has become a big hit with foodies.

Oi Dumplings’s menu takes inspiration from the pair’s time spent in Vietnam, where they both first met whilst working in the country as English teachers.
“We were both in Vietnam from 2016 until the pandemic hit in 2020,” Molly, originally from Lancashire, tells the M.E.N. “As the pandemic happened, we had to get the last flight back and we were just craving all our favourite food that we couldn’t get here.
“We made it our mission to try and master dumplings - they’re not easy to make and we were probably doing everything you could do wrong at the start.
“But it just went from there really, we started doing home delivery kits and were still teaching online when we came back, but then we both lost our jobs and decided just to go into this full time.”
Maisie, originally from Manchester, added: “I would say that neither of us had any real intentions of setting up a restaurant before Vietnam. I was quite well set on being a teacher but teaching for four years kind of made me realise that wasn’t really what I wanted to do.”
