Being a passenger on a plane can be a hit and miss experience. Sometimes you can have the smoothest flight possible and at other times the journey can leave you stressed out and miserable.
While you can’t control every aspect of your flight, there are certain things you can do to ensure your experience is as pleasant as possible. One of these is making sure you’re savvy when it comes to seat selection.
A flight attendant with Tui has shared advice on which seat location is the best one to select, and which are the ones you should avoid. Cabin crew have partnered with luxury membership platform Velloy to share their insider knowledge.

When it comes to booking seats, flight attendants urge passengers to avoid booking seats on row 11, commonly the middle row on an aeroplane. If you book one of these seats it means you’re pretty much guaranteed to be the last person off the plane.
They advise you to avoid 11A and 11F in particular, as they are most likely to be next to the window, and so seating here will see you wait even longer to disembark. Tara, a cabin crew member with Tui, adds: “Similarly, if you are heading on a short-haul flight, you’re likely to fall short on food by sitting in the middle of the plane too.
“If you are planning on getting any form of drink or snack from the bar on board a short-mid haul flight, then sitting towards the front or toward the back is 100% the way to go. “If you sit in the middle, especially on your way home, we are much more likely to have sold out of whatever it is you want because we always start at the front and back and work towards the middle.”
