Here's the Mancunian Way for today:
Hello,
These days, there’s barely time to catch your breath before another tower appears in central Manchester. And the ever-changing face of the city centre is no doubt a sign of a progressing city. But it’s also a major cause for concern for heritage groups who worry neverending development is tearing the soul out of the city.
The latest cause for concern is a development planned for a site near the historic Parsonage Gardens. Reedham House, on King Street West, dates from 1849 and was once a showroom for horse-drawn carriages manufactured in a building behind it.
But the Grade-II listed building is now set to be torn down to make way for yet another high-rise block. Manchester Council have given the go-ahead for a 14-storey £32m office block at the site. The former showroom is part of a historic carriage works complex - the rest of which would be retained and restored.
Final approval will now fall to one man - Michael Gove. The Communities Secretary last month refused to allow Marks and Spencer permission to knock down and redevelop its flagship Oxford Street shop in London. He launched a public inquiry into proposals to flatten the 1929 Art Deco building, near Marble Arch, and replace it with a larger 10-storey retail and office block - plans which were supported by local authorities. As such, conservation groups are taking heart and hope Reedham House could also be saved.
But council planners say a new tower will contribute to the regeneration of the Parsonage Gardens

Rebekah Staton has said that she'd "love" to bring back BBC Three's Pulling - the sitcom that launched the careers of Bad Sisters' Sharon Horgan and EastEnders' Tanya Franks. The comedy, which aired from 2006 until 2009, saw Rebekah, Sharon and Tanya play three friends navigating their messy love lives in London's Hackney. Rebekah - who now stars in BBC One fraud drama The Following Events Are Based on a Pack of Lies - took on her first comedic role on the sitcom as Louise, a cafe waitress often unlucky in love. Speaking to OK! , Rebekah said that she would "hands down" return to Pulling if it were to be rebooted - and that it was meant to be a more realistic version of Sex and the City.

plopped a boxing ring in the middle of the orchestra nearly 10 years ago.But Huey Lewis did not sing “Power of Car,” he sang “Power of Love.” And heart is completely absent from director John Rando’s shiny and serviceable staging of the beloved 1985 science-fiction movie.Coursing emotion, teen angst and can-do scrappiness are what set director Robert Zemeckis’ original film apart from other entries in the time-travel genre. “Back To The Future” wasn’t HG Wells or “Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home.” And it’s hardly remembered as a flashy spectacle, either.
