A man who was previously deported after helping a pimp regain control of a sex worker in Manchester used a false identity to return to the UK. Romanian national Ion Raducan, also known as Ion Paun, was jailed in November 2021 after pleading guilty to arranging or facilitating the travel of a woman with a view to exploitation.
Manchester Crown Court heard at the time how he drove a pimp from the Midlands to Manchester, so they could meet the sex worker - a victim of modern day slavery - in the Strangeways area. Raducan was later deported, on January 27 last year.
But despite his conviction, the 36-year-old made repeated efforts to re-enter the UK. He was twice removed from Stansted Airport and again at Liverpool John Lennon Airport, before eventually entering the UK under a false name.

Raducan was also made the subject of a Slavery and Trafficking Prevention Order for 10 years, which restricts his ability to own, lease or possess a vehicle in the UK without informing the police, and restricts his access to using devices such as a mobile phone. The court heard how Raducan had attempted to enter the UK under a false EU Settlement
