Emmerdale newcomer Caleb Miligan was unveiled as not only the father of Nicky the nanny, but also the son of Frank Tate this month, yet the map to this secret treasure was there all along. Played by Will Ash and Lewis Cope, Caleb and Nicky conveniently made their village entrances back in December 2022, and one closing credits oddity attached questions to the latter right away.Traditionally, the names of familiar faces and even villains-of-the-week are listed in their entirety, but from day one Nicky was missing his surname - suggesting that a blood connection was being kept under lock and key by Emmerdale bosses.
In Caleb's very first appearance, he paid his incarcerated long-lost brother Cain Dingle a visit, and despite being warned away from the village, he headed there anyway and eventually crossed paths with sister Chas Dingle in the graveyard. Although fans weren't privy at the time, Caleb was there to track down the late Frank's final resting place.
As for his character's ambiguous motivations, Cope, 26, previously told Digital Spy that Nicky was "almost too good to be true" and fans would "have to wait and see" if his lovely nature was masking something else. Nicky's standing as the Home Farm nanny was a central device in his and dad Caleb's revenge scheme against Frank's ex-wife Kim Tate, with the former acting as the eyes and ears at the estate.
His initial resistance of Gabby Thomas proved that the mission was Nicky's top priority too, while their eventual romance and rushed engagement was cooked up to create an advantageous position in the Home Farm shares. When the couple's first moment of passion came about, Caleb caught them red-handed and questioned Nicky over his intentions. This almost pulled the plug on
