Emmerdale’s resident villain Kim Tate received an alarming warning during Monday’s episode as she attempted to hide money from her ex husband’s estate in order to preserve her fortune. Last week, Kim was shaken when she received an anonymous letter from a solicitor, which claimed to be acting on behalf of her ex husband Frank’s “illegitimate son” and informed her that he was seeking to make a claim on his father’s estate.
Although none the wiser to the identity of the mysterious son in question, viewers at home discovered last week that the mysterious heir is Kim’s current business partner Caleb Miligan, who along with his son Home Farm nanny Nicky, is hoping to scam Kim out of millions. During the episode, Kim and Will arrived back at Home Farm from touring their new stud farm as they discussed the "facelessness" of the legal challenge and the likelihood of its success.
Believing there was nothing to worry about, Will predicted that the claim would be dropped, as his wife Kim was “smart enough” to have covered her tracks when she stole the bulk of the fortune from the estate. However, the conversation was overheard by Caleb, who soon told the couple what he had heard as he complained about Kim "hiding money in Tate business”.
Will then admitted that their new business partner "had a right to know" what was going on, and began to spill the beans. Faking concern over the plans, Caleb even threatened to pull out of the current farm deal because of the potential scandal, prompting Kim to suggest offering to transfer money directly to him so the stud farm purchase could be entirely in his name.
