A supermarket that recently became cheaper than Aldi for these budget basics has pipped the retailer once again.
We reported last month how Sainsbury's overtook Aldi for the first time in our weekly comparison of shopping essentials.
After becoming the third cheapest retailer behind Lidl and Tesco for the eight items we have tracked since March last year, it then moved into second place and remains there this week.
That's despite it putting the price of its tea bags up by 10p a pack, along with Tesco, as part of their Aldi price match schemes.
Those are the only two price rises in this week's comparison, which also monitors the cost of milk, bread, coffee, butter, beans, chicken and mince.

Last week we reported how Morrisons had become the 'most expensive' for the first time in months after swiping the unfortunate title that Asda has held almost consistently since the end of January.
Despite reducing the price of its loaf from 89p to 75p this week, Morrisons, which last week increased the price of its mince from £2.49 to £2.69, is still the dearest of the lot, at £12.85.
Lidl has now been the cheapest consistently since the end of January, and retains that position this week with a bill of £11.68.
Second is Sainsbury's at £12.17, closely followed by Aldi at £12.18, Tesco at £12.47 and Asda at £12.81.
Aldi insists it's not a fair comparison as the items we are comparing each week are not necessarily like-for-like.
It says its teabags, for instance, are 'better quality, and 100g heavier than Sainsbury’s and Tesco’s' and the beans 20g heavier than Sainsbury's. And it says that Aldi exclusive brands are 'benchmarked against the leading brands in each
