Strictly Come Dancing viewers are divided over who they think the 'dark horse' is of the series but Ellie Leach was definitely one of them as she stunned during her first performance of the series. The 2023 run of the BBC One dance contest began last weekend with the launch show in which the 15 new celebrities discovered their professional partners.
However, the competition officially began on Saturday night (September 23) with the first live show of the 21st series. And former Coronation Street star Ellie didn't hold back as she impressed the judges with her electric jive to Can’t Tame Her by Zara Larsson alongside her partner Vito Coppola.
Ellie, who is known for having played Faye Windass in ITV's Corrie for 12 years before her exit earlier this year, looked sensational in a bright orange and yellow tasselled mini dress as she strutted her stuff around the ballroom floor, using her slicked-back ponytail as an additional prop.

And it all helped secure her a score of an impressive 29 from the judges. Getting her feedback, head judge Shirley Ballas advised Ellie to work on her consistency, but hailed the routine as "absolutely amazing," while Craig Revel Horwood added that she was an “incredible dancer”, noting how “sharp” and “precise” the routine was.
Following the performance, Strictly fans flocked to social media to share their thoughts, dubbing Ellie the 'dark horse' of the competition. @AnthonyShannon2 said: "Ellie Leach has some serious moves for only week 1. Dark horse to dance away with the Glitterball? #Strictly."
