A sobbing mum claims she is being forced out of her own home and her husband is unable to work due to the situation next door.
Hayley Trotter, 45, says her family will have to sell their home after controversial plans to turn the property next door into a six-bed HMO which will increase traffic on the quiet street were approved.
She also claims when the vacant house had residents her partner was unable to sleep because the walls were paper thin which caused excessive noise reports the MEN.
The mum of two said: “This is having a massive effect on my family. It’s causing a lot of stress and upset over who’s going to be living next door.
“We’ve got lovely neighbours, but now I’m going to be worried about the noise coming from next door.”
She told the committee that when the previous owner of the house lived there, the walls were so thin she could hear him drawing the curtains.
Hayley's partner is an HGV driver and feared he would be kept awake by ‘disturbances’ from next door, rendering him potentially unsafe to drive his huge truck. After the meeting, she vowed to put her house up for sale. “I’ve already had it valued,” she said.
Objecting residents were backed by Higher Irlam and Peel Green ward councillor John Walsh who responded to comments made by an agent for the applicant that the residents of the HMO would be ‘professional’ and there would be a cycle storage facility and it would be unlikely they would have cars.
Cllr Walsh said: “There are some real assumptions there - one, that only professionals are going to live there and, two, that they are going to cycle. It could be that six people are living there and they could all have cars, so unless they’re going to bar people who’ve got a car, or who are not professionals,
