In an appearance on Howard Stern‘s SiriusXM show on Wednesday, the country star said her new short hairstyle is very much a reaction to her sad split, teasing:
As for the status of her breakup, she said the legal matter is “ongoing.”

As Perezcious readers know, the My Church artist filed for a divorce in early October after five years of marriage. The whole thing reportedly came “out of the blue” for her hubby, who “wasn’t expecting it,” according to a previous Us Weekly source. That said, the same insider noted the pair are “opposites” which could have made the relationship “difficult,” though an official reason for the split hasn’t been made clear by either performer (aside from the standard “irreconcilable differences” claim).
Since the filing, the Chasing After You crooner has stayed mum on the split while The Bones singer has hinted at the hard time via cryptic posts. Interestingly, the co-parents of 3-year-old son Hayes Andrew were able to put their differences aside to go trick-or-treating with the child shortly after the breakup was made public. So, that’s good!
But it wasn’t long after that the 33-year-old joked about needing to chop off her hair amid an “existential crisis,” teasing in mid-November via her Instagram Story:
Well, looks like she got to that haircut! We hope it’s helping her turn the page to a (hopefully happier) new chapter! In the meantime, she’s focused on her music and trying to heal from the end of her marriage — and certainly not out on the market yet, she told Howard:
