Paul Heckingbottom has confirmed he will not have Cameron Archer available to face Manchester City after missing the deadline for his new striker's registration.
Sheffield United agreed a deal with Aston Villa for Archer on Wednesday, believed to be worth around £18million. The 21-year-old was due to finalise personal terms and complete a medical in the following days, although there has been no formal announcement as of yet.
The Blades host City at Bramall Lane on Sunday afternoon, and Heckingbottom had hoped to register his new signing before Friday lunchtime's deadline. But that has not happened meaning he will not feature against the Blues this weekend,
“No, the deadline was today," Heckingbottom responded bluntly when asked if Archer will be available. “It’s out of my hands, I don’t know.

"It’s pointless me saying it’s not happening. I hope it’s happening. I would have loved, and Cameron would have loved, to be involved on Sunday, but we haven’t done it yet.”
Heckingbottom will also be without left wing-back Max Lowe, who was substituted at half-time in last weekend's 2-1 defeat at Nottingham Forest. The Blades boss admitted the issue could require surgery, but decided to stay positive and hopes it will provide a chance for Yasser Larouci.
“Lowey [Max Lowe] won’t be fit. George [Baldock] and Oli [McBurnie] are back training,” Heckingbottom said.- “Yeah it does [mean an opportunity for Larouci] I am not saying he’s playing but an opportunity. Lowey is out. no point hiding that, how long we don’t know yet, depends on the route we go down, whether surgery or not. We’ll have to wait and see.”
