‘Sex Education’ Continues To Top Netflix TV Ratings; ‘Reptile’ Scales To Lead Film Chart

Three fiftysomething jerks extend their adolescence way, way beyond the breaking point in Old Dads, a boorish and obnoxiously vulgar comedy that, since it can’t claim any other great distinction, might well have been expressly written to break the all-time record for use of the f-word in the major studio movie. Even Lenny Bruce might be twitching in his grave over this one.

Just like that, Suits is back on top.

Sex Education (★★★★☆) created by Laurie Nunn, has evolved from a quirky teen sex comedy into a fan-favorite hit and astonishingly graceful look at teenage sexuality.The fourth and final season finds the teens spending their last semester at a new school, Cavendish College, an incredibly queer/artsy school. Otis (Asa Butterfield) is struggling to juggle his long-distance relationship with Maeve (Emma Mackey) as she studies in America, his mother Jean’s (Gillian Anderson) new baby, and a rival sex therapist (Thaddea Graham) at school.The show’s two eternal standouts, Otis’s bestie Eric (Ncuti Gatwa) and Maeve’s bestie Aimee (Aimee Lou Wood), also return with the former trying to handle his evolving queerness while the latter finds artistic therapy for her trauma.Meanwhile, Adam (Connor Swindells), Eric’s bully-turned-ex-boyfriend, decides to not return to school, as Otis’ ex, Ruby (Mimi Keene), finds herself no longer popular.

Naman Ramachandran Eleven and Sony Television International are adapting novelist and former politician Jeffrey Archer’s bestselling “Kane and Abel” trilogy for television. The trilogy, comprising “Kane and Abel,” “The Prodigal Daughter” and “Shall We Tell The President,” were written by Archer between 1977 and 1982. It tells the story of two men, one Polish, an illegitimate son of a Baron, the other rich and privileged from a wealthy Boston banking family.

Rebecca Rubin Film and Media Reporter Emma Stone stopped by New York Film Festival to make a surprise appearance at the premiere of “Bleat,” an unconventional short film by Yorgos Lanthimos. Stone and Lanthimos just reunited on “Poor Things,” a Frankenstein-esque black comedy that’s received some of the best reviews of the year. Sex Education creator Laurie Nunn has opened up about cast departures from the show as the final season airs on Netflix.Actors to have departed the show ahead of its final season include Patricia Allison (Ola), Tanya Reynolds (Lily), Simone Ashley (a member of The Untouchables) and Rakhee Thakrar (Emily Sands).Speaking about some of the cast departures, Nunn explained that it was down to the character’s storylines reaching their natural conclusion.Speaking to LADbible, Nunn said: “Those storylines felt like they had just come to a really lovely ending in series three, and I felt like the characters of Lily and Ola just really felt like they ended in a really happy place.“Particularly because they’re a lesbian couple, I wanted them to not have any more pain or trauma, and just be left happy together.
