Two men have been arrested after a lit flare was thrown during Kasbian's gig in Glasgow on Bonfire Night. Fans were shocked to see the lit pyrotechnic being lobbed through the crowd inside the OVO Hydro on Saturday.
The culprit threw the device from the back of the crowd towards the stage, leaving some fans unable to see through the plumes of thick, red smoke.
Frontman Sergio "Serge" Pizzorno and the rest of the band continued to play while the flare fizzled out and the smoke cleared, allowing the audience to see clearly again.
Another flare was then thrown into a crowd of people after being lit outside the venue, and security staff raced to detain the culprit.
As reported by our sister title, Glasgow Live, Police Scotland confirmed arrests had been made in connection with the incidents.
An eyewitness said: "The crowd was rowdy as you would expect in Glasgow on a Saturday night but to see a lit flare in such a tightly packed area was scary.
"You're used to seeing them at outdoor gigs and festivals but indoors at the Hydro is just so dangerous. I'm surprised no one was hurt."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A male was outside the OVO Hydro, and threw a flare into a crowd of people. He was detained by security staff at the scene. Following police enquiries, two people were arrested in connection with this matter."
An SEC spokesperson added: "We can confirm that an incident involving a flare took place at the Kasabian gig last night. It was dealt with swiftly with the person in question apprehended by security and subsequently taken away by police."
