A teen who was stabbed to death on her way to school in London yesterday has been named locally.
Tributes left at the scene of the incident, name 'Eliyanna', as the girl who died after being stabbed in the neck after getting off a bus in Croydon, London, on Wednesday morning, September 27. A 17-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the stabbing and remains in police custody.
Witnesses described the horror attack as tributes were paid to the "absolutely incredible" teenager, who has yet to be officially named by the Metropolitan Police, reports the Daily Mirror.
A police cordon remained at the scene this morning, Thursday, September 26, as more flowers and cards slowly start to appear from well-wishers. It's understood Eliyanna knew her attacker, but PA understand they had not been in a relationship.
An envelope discovered near to the scene which was handled by forensics teams said, "I love you so much and I never met someone with a better smile and better eyes than what you have, special girl".
It's not known who the note was written by at this stage.
Bystanders reported that a boy had been seen trying to give flowers to another girl on the bus thought to be an ex-girlfriend. However, when the girl rejected the bouquet tensions flared as people dismounted the vehicle, with reports stating that Eliyanna then stepped in to intervene.
The boy is alleged to have then pulled out a knife and attacked her.
Michael Fyffe, who witnessed the attack, told Sky News: "There were loads of people who had just come off the bus and then I think two of the girl's friends came out and they were trying to rush over towards the body.
