A 'lovely' teenage girl who was stabbed to death outside a shopping centre in Croydon has been pictured as her 'devastated' family paid tribute to her.
The 15-year-old, who has been named locally as Eliyanna Andam, died after being stabbed in the neck with a foot-long knife during the Wednesday morning rush hour, a witness said. A 17-year-old boy, who knew the victim, was arrested just over an hour after the attack which took place on busy Wellesley Road at around 8.30am.
He remains in custody today (Thursday) being questioned on suspicion of murder. Eliyanna was a student at the Old Palace of John Whitgift School, an independent girls' school in Croydon, the Mirror reports.

Flowers and cards left at the scene since Wednesday morning paid tribute to the 'much-loved' teenager, who was also described by one person who knew her as 'absolutely incredible' with a 'bright future' ahead of her. Eliyanna's aunt spoke out on Thursday morning saying how her niece had 'gone to school and not come home'.
The bright student and keen gymnast 'wanted to be a lawyer', the aunt told The Mirror. She said: "This is a tragedy. It hasn’t sunk in yet for my sister She wanted to be a lawyer.
"She went to a private school and had a great future ahead of her. My sister paid for her education.
“She was a lovely girl, loved gymnastics. She loved doing her hair. We are all devastated by this. We are a big family and we are all here for my sister.
