Loose Woman presenter Ruth Langsford has opened up on her ‘bittersweet’ Christmas as she will be spending another festive season without her beloved sister Julia Johnson and her dad, Dennis. Ruth’s sister, who battled depression for years, was tragically found dead by her husband Paul at their home when she was just 62 years old, in 2019.
The presenter later described the loss of her sister as the “hardest of my life”. While Ruth admitted to Best Magazine that the festive period can often trigger difficult emotions, she said that Christmas makes her “so happy”.
Ruth also reminisced about her Christmases when she was a child as she would often enjoy the big day in different countries, including Malta and Germany, as her father Dennis was in the army. Her dad sadly died in 2012 of dementia when he was 84 years old. Ruth said when she was younger she would join her dad to buy presents for her mum and that she “particularly” misses her dad at this time of year.
She told the publication: “He bought the tree, wrapped the presents, he was so involved.
That’s why at Christmas, I particularly miss my dad." As Ruth prepares for the Christmas period, she recently revealed that she would “consider” a return to This Morning, following the abrupt exit from Holly Willoughby in October. Ruth said she would “consider” returning, although she said reports that the show wants her back “aren’t true”. Ruth told Woman&Home: “I love This Morning but reports that ITV have recently asked me back aren’t true.
I laughed when I saw that report. I have no idea where these things come from. It’s like when people write a nasty comment on my Instagram, I find it amusing." She continued: “If they asked me, I would certainly consider it.
