Rio Ferdinand has told Manchester United to follow Arsenal’s lead as Erik ten Hag seemingly closes in on the managerial job.
Ten Hag looks set to make the move to Old Trafford, with Ajax expecting their boss to become United’s new permanent appointment. The 52-year-old became the club’s preferred candidate last month, and now looks likely to beat fellow frontrunner Mauricio Pochettino to the role.
Ten Hag was interviewed for the job two weeks ago could become United's second Dutch manager following Louis van Gaal. United have not yet confirmed anything surrounding the appointment.

But should Ten Hag be confirmed at Old Trafford, he'll have a big job on his hands. United are struggling in their efforts to finish in the top four this season, while some big names could be on their way out of the club this summer.
Ferdinand feels United should follow Arsenal's lead with their new boss. The Gunners have enjoyed a resurgence this season under Mikel Arteta after showing patience with him.
“Manchester United are obviously now looking for a new manager, and hopefully things (at the club) will change,” Ferdinand told William Hill.
“If you look at Arsenal, they have found the manager, they trust in him and they have allowed him to do some things where a lot of people have probably doubted it. (Such as) with the (Pierre-Emerick) Aubameyang situation, where people thought he’s a big player and you have to keep him… But now Arteta has done what he wanted and Arsenal are on a good run at the moment.
“You have to trust in the manager and trust in the process and fingers crossed Man United will do that. At the end of the day, when
