Queen pulls out of St Paul’s Cathedral Thanksgiving Service with 'great reluctance'

The Queen was pictured smiling as she attended a royal engagement without a walking stick, following her recent mobility issues. Her Majesty, 96, has recently been pictured at several appearances using a walking aid - including at the Order of the Garter service with Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall last week.

Princess Beatrice wowed in a floral dress today as she attended Royal Ascot alongside her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, after the Queen pulled out of attending. The 96 year old monarch has suffered with ongoing mobility issues in recent months, and today will mark the first time she has been absent from the annual horse racing event since she ascended the throne in 1952, except for when it was held privately in 2020 due to Covid. Her Majesty was not present at much of the celebrations for her Platinum Jubilee, attending just two events and being represented at others by senior royals, including Prince Charles, Camilla, Prince William and Kate Middleton.

On Monday 13 June, the Royal Family released a photo of the Queen holding a walking stick during the Order of the Garter service. In the photo, Her Majesty, 96, can be seen standing between her son, Prince Charles, and his wife, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.

The Queen has reportedly withdrawn from the opening ceremony of the iconic Commonwealth Games as she continues to suffer from difficulties with her mobility. According to the Mirror, her eldest son and the future king, Prince Charles, 73, will be standing in for her at the event.The show takes place in Birmingham on July 28, and it will be another event the 96 year old monarch has pulled out of in recent months, including some parts of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Prince Edward, Princess Anne, and other senior royals are also reportedly scheduled to appear at the opening.

Boris Johnson and his wife Carrie were greeted with boos from the crowd outside St Paul’s Cathedral as they arrived for the National Thanksgiving Service this morning (June 3).
