A pub building could be extended to become a shared house with 27-bedrooms. Plans have been submitted in the last week to convert and extend the Park Hotel premises on Bridgeman Street in Bolton into a house of multiple occupation (HMO).
The two-storey detached pub, called The Park, is on the intersection with Slaterfield and Rothwell Street. A design and access statement on behalf of applicant, Javed Ali, said: “Presently, the building functions as a pub on the ground floor and living accommodation on the first floor.
“This application seeks planning permission for the transition from a public house to a 27-bedroom HMO. This includes of a one-storey addition and a rear extension.

“Internally, the layout mirrors each floor and has been meticulously organised to enhance overall living conditions and optimise space.
“Each of the proposed three floors would have nine bedrooms, seven of which would have a communal utility room, kitchen, and living area, two of the bedrooms would have private kitchens.”
The report added: “The proposed development, extending the two-storey property to approximately 12.6 metres in height after the addition of one storey, maintains harmony with the neighbouring structures.
“This elevation aligns with the prevalent three-storey buildings along Slaterfield and Bridgeman Street, ensuring the new height respects the area’s architectural form.
“The rooms provide for a higher quality of modern shared accommodation. This design and access statement underscores that the site is situated within a highly sustainable, established residential area and would offer a mix of housing solutions that cater to community needs.
