A prison officer had 'phone sex' with a serving inmate and even met his mother, a jury was told.
Ruth Shmylo allegedly began the 'inappropriate relationship' with the inmate while she was working as a prison officer and he was a prisoner at HMP Parc in Bridgend, Wales Online reports. The inmate then moved to HMP Manchester, and conversations between him and Shmylo, 26, were recorded by the prison authorities.
The pair had phone sex after the inmate allegedly slid Shmylo his number on a piece of paper, a court was told. During the calls, the inmate asked the defendant to tell him she loved him, which she refused to do, and told her he 'missed her face'.

Prosecutors said Shmylo also met with the inmates mother and failed to report his advances. The calls were recorded at a time when the defendant was as no longer working at Parc Prison, but Cardiff Crown Court was told the relationship began when she was still employed.
Shmylo, of Lewis Street, Treforest, denies one count of misconduct in a public office. The trial heard how Shmylo and the inmate were alleged to have been in a relationship between December 1, 2020, and April 17, 2021.
She began working at the prison in October 2020 but did not pass her probationary period and was released from her employment in April 2021. The inmate was moved to Strangeways in May 2021, and the pair's conversations were then recorded.
After the calls were brought to the attention of the police, Shmylo was arrested on July 20, 2021. She made a number of admissions in her interview with police.
