Prince William crushed Prince Harry's feelings with a hurtful comment when they both attended the same boarding school.
The two royal brothers, who are the sons of King Charles and the late Princess Diana, have just two years between them and were also very close growing up with one another at Kensington Palace.
However, things changed when the princes became older and found their own paths in life, the Mirror reports.
The Duke of Sussex, 39, recalls feeling "hurt" by his older brother's comment to him when he joined Eton College in September 1998 where he studied for both his GSCEs and A Levels.
William, 41, started at Eton three years prior in 1995 after spending five years at Ludgrove Prep School in Berkshire.
When Prince Harry started at the prestigious school, he assumed that he'd be closer than ever to his big brother as they hadn't seen a lot of each other due to their different schools.
However, he couldn't have been more wrong as Harry detailed his ordeal in his tell-all memoir Spare.
In an interview to promote the book, the duke sat down with 60 Minutes' Anderson Cooper and claimed his brother rejected him.
Cooper said: "Your brother told you, 'Pretend we don't know each other'," to which Harry confirmed: "Yeah, and at the time it hurt."

He added: "I couldn't make sense of it. I was like, 'What do you mean? We're now at the same school. Like, I haven't seen you for ages, now we get to hang out together.'
"He's like, 'No, no, no, when we're at school we don't know each other.' And I took that personally."
