Prince Harry's "painful decisions" he has made since leaving the Royal Family are catching up with him, according to an expert.
It's now been over three years since Harry and Meghan announced they were stepping down as senior working royals in January 2020 and the couple have since relocated to Los Angeles with their two kids, Archie and Lilibet.
However, royal expert Dr Tessa Tunlop believes that the 38-year-old did not realise the full extent of the consequences of the controversial choices he has made.
Speaking to the To Di For Daily podcast, the novelist said the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have embarked on "an incredibly difficult journey" after leaving 'the Firm'.
She claims that Harry did not fully grasp just how hard it would be and is now "less than the sum of his parts" as he navigates life outside of the monarchy, which she believes he "took for granted".
The royal expert slammed the father-of-two for rushing into the decision to spill his family secrets and said his move towards Hollywood with Meghan was “lucrative”.
She continued: "I think it’s been an incredibly difficult journey… I don’t think Harry has many assets, I don’t think he had the intellectual acumen and probably grounding in history, bizarrely, to understand just what he was trying to achieve.
"He needed to go much slower but I totally understand why the impetuous lad, the rival sibling, the bruised man wanted to smack it out there really quickly, get some easy hits, except they’ve proved quite hard hits but lucrative ones that’s for sure under his belt.
"And I don’t think he would have ever envisaged the difficulty."
She claims that the duke now realises that carving out a life of his own with his young family without the royals is extremely hard work
