The independent police watchdog has confirmed an investigation has been launched into Greater Manchester Police after a woman was seriously injured in a stabbing in Hyde.
Officers were initially called to Grosvenor Road in Hyde at around 11pm on Friday (June 28) due to the 'concern for the welfare' of a woman. After police attended, a different woman was stabbed inside the property. She was rushed to hospital, where she remains with life-changing injuries.
The incident was referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), who told the Manchester Evening News they 'sent investigators to the scene' due to prior police contact.

An IOPC spokesperson said: “We can confirm we are independently investigating an incident involving Greater Manchester Police after a woman was seriously injured at a property in Hyde, on Friday (28 June).
“This is due to prior police contact related to the incident. We sent investigators to the scene and the police post incident procedures to begin the process of gathering information.
“Our investigation is in the very early stages and GMP are conducting a parallel criminal investigation.”
Yesterday, GMP confirmed 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following the incident. He remains in police custody for questioning.
In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: "At around 11pm on Friday 28 June 2024, we were called to Grosvenor Road in Hyde due to the concern for the welfare of a woman.
"After our officers attended and were later taking witness accounts, another woman was stabbed inside the property. Following treatment, she is thankfully now in a stable
