Former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel has told Andre Onana that he should not look to alter his game in any way as he prepares to make his competitive debut for the club against Wolves.
The Cameroonian, 27, became United's second signing of the summer last month, completing a big-money move from Inter Milan. He will fill the void created by David de Gea's departure.
Onana, who worked with United manager Erik ten Hag at Ajax, will revolutionise the way that the Reds play, certainly when it comes to building and playing out from the back. He is one of the best distributors in the game and is not afraid to get on the ball and dictate play from his own area.
However, former United shot-stopper Schmeichel, who won five Premier League titles during his time at Old Trafford, does not believe that Onana needs to prove himself as a ball-playing goalkeeper at Old Trafford. Instead, he wants him to focus on the understanding of being part of a team and playing for a club of United's stature.

"Manchester United is a big club," Schmeichel told United's club website. "Bigger than Ajax, bigger than Inter. Get to terms with that quickly.
"Whatever you do is going to resonate everywhere in the world. Instantly. That doesn't happen when you play for Inter.
"I think he was very, very good for Inter last season. He came to Inter and he took Samir Handanovic out of the team, the captain out of the team. And I think he was instrumental in how they ended up in the Champions League final.
