Manchester City have spent the day refocusing after suffering their first defeat since the Community Shield at the beginning of August, on Wednesday night.
Pep Guardiola's men were knocked out of the Carabao Cup in midweek after a 1-0 loss to Newcastle United at St James' Park. After controlling much of the first half, City were caught cold at the beginning of the second 45 and were punished by Alexander Isak who smashed the ball home from close range less than ten minutes after the restart.
The defeat sees City exit the competition at their first hurdle but have an immediate opportunity put the result right on Saturday when they travel to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League. MEN Sport has unpicked Guardiola's reaction to the result below.

Guardiola said he never intended to play Erling Haaland against Newcastle, despite City falling to a 1-0 defeat in the Carabao Cup.
Haaland was rested at St James' Park, along with captains Kyle Walker and Ruben Dias, and remained on the bench despite Newcastle's lead from the 51st minute. Julian Alvarez struggled to continue his early season form playing upfront on his own, and was substituted in the second half for Phil Foden.
That left City without a striker, but Guardiola resisted the temptation to bring on Haaland for some extra firepower, insisting that his striker needed a rest after starting every game so far this season - completing all but one.
