Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola might have watched the England match through his fingers with so many of his players involved on Tuesday night. However, in the end, Guardiola pretty much got exactly what he wanted from the win over Italy.
John Stones, Kalvin Phillips, Kyle Walker and Phil Foden all started for the Three Lions in their 3-1 victory.
Guardiola will have been pleased to see Stones start the game - his first start since picking up an injury earlier in the season - after the defender had only been fit enough to start on the bench in the final game before the international break against Arsenal.

Stones played 90 minutes in the Community Shield over two months ago and since then his sole appearance for the treble-winners came in the dying embers of their defeat to the Gunners. Seeing him get 63 minutes at Wembley will be valuable for Guardiola and City moving forward.
For different reasons, the same can be said of Phillips. The midfielder started alongside Declan Rice in the engine room and lasted 70 minutes before he was replaced by Jordan Henderson.
Foden and Walker, meanwhile, remained on the pitch from start to finish as England booked their place at Euro 2024 and all roads will now lead to Germany next summer. Jack Grealish enjoyed a late cameo in three changes made by Gareth Southgate in that hugely important 3-1 victory.
City - beaten in their last two Premier League games - return to action when Brighton make the visit to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon (3pm). That gives the England regulars three full days to recover before aiming to get back to winning ways.
