'Our town centre adventure is coming to an end': Ancoats craft beer shop to shut

Customers have been sharing their upset after the owners behind a craft beer shop in Ancoats announced they will be closing down at the end of the week.
The Epicurean Beer People store on Henry Street will close on Sunday (September 24) after bosses said their plans for the premises hadn’t ‘worked out the way we envisioned’ due to increased costs and lower than expected demand.
Founded by Simon Yarwood, The Epicurean started life in 2014 with its flagship West Didsbury store on Burton Road. Selling a huge range of beer and cider from the UK and across the world, alongside vegan, gluten-free and low alcohol options, it also has stores in Heaton Moor and Chorlton.

In a post on social media, The Epicurean said all its other stores will remain open. Staff at the Ancoats store, which opened in October 2021, will be relocated across the three sites.
The post said: "Unfortunately, our town centre adventure is coming to an end. It's been great fun, we've met some great people, made good friends and leant a lot, but ultimately it hasn't worked out the way we envisioned. The location wasn't perfect and the demand isn't really on par with what we expected, that coupled with increased costs, we are sadly closing the Ancoats branch of The Epicurean Beer People.
