But Omid Scobie has admitted he was briefed by the Sussex’s team for new book Endgame, which hits shelves today and aims to pull back the curtain on an institution in turmoil" in a bid to "show what the monarchy must change in order to survive".
Previously when questioned, Scobie said that he and the Duchess of Sussex don’t have a relationship but do share “mutual friends” after his first release, Finding Freedom.
But in a new interview, the writer has opened up on the amount of input Meghan’s team have had on the new book.
Speaking to The Standard, Omid said he doesn't get credit for the "great reporting" he does from his sources but he failed to deny that they included briefings from Harry and Meghan’s team. Fresh bombshell claims in the book include the allegation that Harry was unable to get in touch with William as he attempted to arrange travel up to Aberdeenshire during the final few hours of the late Queen’s life.
Scobie claims that the duke and duchess were not the sources who told him that intricate detail but he added: “ There's enough people around them and in their orbit who know the ins and outs of things."
Scobie previously attempted to distance himself from the rumours he was Meghan’s ‘mouthpiece’ as he took to Twitter, formerly X, and said: "And let's get this nonsense out the way - #ENDGAME is about the current state of the British Royal Family. It's not 'Harry and Meghan’s book', I'm not 'Meg’s pal', the Sussexes have nothing to do with it, their story is a small part of a much bigger one you can read in 12 days."
