Chelsea supporters were outraged that Manchester City were awarded a penalty in the first half of their Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.
City took the lead via the penalty spot after 25 minutes, with Erling Haaland cooly tucking the ball home for his 16th goal of the season in all competitions. The spot-kick was awarded after referee Anthony Taylor pointed to the spot and then a VAR intervention.
The officials deemed that Haaland had been dragged to the turf by Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella when attempting to meet a cross from the left flank with a header. It sparked widespread confusion among those in the stands and those watching on TV, with referee Taylor taking an age to point to the spot.

It was a very soft decision, but one that City benefited from. Unsurprisingly, Chelsea's supporters were left raging with the officials' decision to award the spot-kick, with many of them taking to social media to blast Taylor, who has been at the centre of controversy recently.
