Netflix has unveiled the details of its first ever procedural medical drama - as excited fans issued the same plea. Titled Pulse, the new series is from showrunners Carlton Cuse (Lost, Locke and Key) and Zoe Robyn (The Equalizer).
It will star award-winning actress Justina Machado as Natalie Cruz, a politically-savvy doctor who oversees both administration and medicine in her role as the Chair of Surgery and Emergency Medicine. The show will follow the staff of Miami’s busiest Level 1 Trauma Center as they navigate medical emergencies and their own complicated love lives.
The logline teases that 'young ER doctor Dani Simms is unexpectedly promoted to Chief Resident amidst the fallout of her own provocative romantic relationship.' Netflix is yet to confirm further casting details as well as a release date.

Justina recently starred as the titular character in Amazon Prime Video's The Horror of Dolores Roach, based on the popular Spotify podcast of the same name. Other previous roles include Penelope in the 2017 Netflix sitcom One Day At A Time - which was dropped by the streamer after just three seasons.
Fans are now hoping that Pulse won't face the same fate. Many were thrilled to see Justina land such a major role, but others had their reservations.
In response to Netflix's announcement on X, formerly Twitter, @mrandamiller517 said of Justina: "Love her, but my expectations for more than one season are low" as @eandrews echoed: "I love medical dramas and I love Justina Machado! Now I just need Netflix to not cancel this after a single season."
