The Met Office has confirmed there is a 'low chance' of a white Christmas in Manchester this year.
It's bad news for those hoping for the ideal Christmas weather in just over a week, with current long-range forecasts instead pointing more towards showers. The Met Office added that despite the lack of snow, the region can expect wintry showers in higher elevated areas.
According to current long-range forecasts extending around the Christmas period, snow will most likely be seen in some hill areas in the north-west with winds and showers expected on the coast.

Met Office spokesman Grahame Madge said: "At this stage there is very little sign of any widespread or severe cold and wintry weather affecting Christmas Day.”
