However, it can be difficult to find a good mortgage deal, especially for those less-experienced. Fortunately, Martin Lewis has issued his latest advice on finding the best deals for both first-time buyers and those coming to the end of a fixed rate deal in this week's ITV episode of the Martin Lewis Money Show Live.

He said there were three steps to take if you are looking for a new mortgage. Firstly, anyone who has an existing mortgage should make sure they know all the details of their current mortgage.
The money-saving expert told his audience: "Anybody out there right now who's got an existing mortgage deal gather your details, the rate, the type, the deal end, the penalties." He added: "What's really important is the loan to value, or LTV. That is the portion of your home's current value. If house prices come down a little your LTV will have got worse - its the proportion of your homes current value you're borrowing. So, if you're borrowing the same amount and house prices have come down, it's got worse because you're borrowing a bigger proportion."
He said rates get cheaper if your LTV is at 90 per cent, 80 per cent, 75 per cent, and 60 per cent. The lower the LTV, the cheaper you will be able to snag a mortgage. Martin highlighted that anything lower than
