Martin Lewis issues his top money-saving motorist tips for insurance and breakdown cover

Martin Lewis has been on the warpath for motorists this week, dishing out a flurry of essential advice.
Appearing on both TV and radio, he has discussed a wave of tips and tricks to help motorists save a significant bit of cash on the services and insurance their vehicle relies on. Some of the key issues he's addressed this week include taking car insurance out at the right time to cut costs by as much as half as well as saving money on car breakdown cover.
Speaking on the Martin Lewis Money Show Live, the money-saving expert explained some of his best tips for those looking to get a better deal on their car breakdown. He stressed the importance of looking at all the deals available and not waiting for your current deal to renew on its own.

Martin told his ITV audience this week: "If you're willing to switch, you can get full service cover which means roadside recovery and home start for you and your partner." Some deals that he highlighted include AutoAid and EverSure Gold but noted that prices will vary depending on who will provide it and the age of the car, but he provided a ballpark figure between £60 and £80 but it could go as high as around £200.
He continued: "If you want to go with RAC or the AA - if you're new there you go via a cashback site, at the moment TopCashback is the best payer. Once you take the cashback into account, it's about £110 for full-service car breakdown with that one."
He highlighted that this only works if you get paid cashback, which happens more often than not, but "is not guaranteed". Moreover, this deal is only for people new to RAC or AA.
