Greater Manchester areas with the cheapest and most expensive fuel - and there's a 14p difference

Finding cheap fuel in the current climate can be a challenge.
Supermarkets tend to be the cheapest place to top up your tank, but the price difference between supermarket retailers and competitors has been narrowing in recent years. Figures released earlier this month found that Shell fuel stations were typically the most expensive in the UK, while Morrisons was found to have the lowest price for fuel.
However, in Greater Manchester, it's not just the forecourt you choose that might make a difference to how much you have to fork out for your petrol and diesel - but the area you're in too.

Cromwell Trucks and Online Marketing Surgery analysed recent fuel price data to rank 18 areas of Greater Manchester based on their average price for unleaded petrol and diesel. The fuel price report found that Heywood in Rochdale was the most expensive place in Greater Manchester to get petrol and diesel.
In fact, drivers filling up in Heywood face paying an average of 147.9p for a litre of petrol, which is 4.2p more than the second most expensive area on the list - Oldham. Drivers of diesel cars also face much higher pump prices, with a 3.5p difference between the average price in Heywood and Wigan, which ranked second.
Meanwhile, Dukinfield in Tameside was the cheapest place for fuel - with average prices of 133.7p per litre for petrol and 143.7p per litre for diesel. Other areas found to have some of the cheapest fuel prices include Ashton-under-Lyne, Leigh and Stalybridge.
