Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag branded Marcus Rashford "unacceptable" for attending a birthday party hours after the derby defeat and the forward has apologised.
Rashford attended a gathering at the Chinawhite nightclub on Deansgate on Sunday evening after United were humbled 3-0 at Old Trafford by Manchester City.
The event was attended by Rashford's brother, Dane, close friends and teammate Tyrell Malacia. Although Rashford, who turned 26 on Tuesday, was not photographed it was established he was in attendance. Rashford's entourage arranged for his vehicle to pull up as close to the entrance as possible so Rashford would not be pictured.

Ten Hag upbraided Rashford and suggested he had meted out an unspecified punishment. "Yes, I am aware of it, I spoke with him about it. It's unacceptable. I told him. He apologised and that's it. For the rest, it's an internal matter." Ten Hag refused to clarify if Rashford had been fined.
Rashford was named as a substitute for the League Cup elimination by Newcastle United on Wednesday but Ten Hag clarified his removal from the team was rotational and not punishment.
The timing of Rashford's shindig was particularly ill-advised amid his dismal form of one goal in 14 United games this season. A section of the crowd also cheered off Rashford when he was substituted in the defeat to City.
Rashford was dropped for the fixture at Wolves on New Year's Eve last year after he was late to a team meeting but he came on at half-time and scored the winner.
Ten Hag denied that Rashford did not have the requisite mentality that the Dutchman demands.
