Manchester United are planning to recall Charlie McNeill from his loan at Stevenage in the January transfer window.
McNeill signed for Stevenage on a season-long loan in September, but he's made just three appearances and the Manchester Evening News understands he will be recalled due to his lack of game time. The striker has struggled for minutes at Stevenage despite making a bright start and the break clause in his loan will be activated.
Every academy player who leaves United on loan has a recall break clause that can be activated after six months, which gives the club a chance to assess whether it's best for the youngster to stay on loan or not.

Although McNeill made the perfect start when scoring on his Stevenage debut, he's been absent from a handful of matchday squads in the league and sources have conceded the loan has not gone as hoped.
McNeill scored against Leyton Orient a day after he signed on loan but opportunities have been limited for the youngster since. Stevenage are currently fourth in League One after winning promotion from League Two.
United will consider the best options for McNeill when he's recalled and he could leave on loan again in the January window.
The 20-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan with Newport County and that spell in the fourth division was considered a success, with the youngster getting his first taste of senior football.
McNeill made 20 appearances for Newport after signing for the club in January and he scored two goals in that period.
