Former striker Michael Owen is fearful that Marcus Rashford and Mason Mount could head down the same path as Angel Di Maria and Paul Pogba at Manchester United.
Big expectations were on Rashford's and Mount's shoulders for different reasons heading into the start of this campaign. Rashford was looking to build on last season's impressive tally of 30 goals, while Mount was the subject of a big-money move from Chelsea in the summer.
Both were expected to be key components in manager Erik ten Hag's thinking this term, but neither of them currently make it into his strongest XI, with Rashford struggling for form and Mount on the comeback trail from his latest injury. Rashford has scored just two goals all season, one of which was a penalty.

Though both players are equally capable of getting themselves back on track, Owen has raised doubts about why so many players, either coming through the club's youth system or drafted in for big-money transfer fees, fail to kick-on and considerably improve at Old Trafford. He has used Rashford and Mount as examples to get his point across.
Owen, speaking to BoyleSports who offer the latest Premier League betting, said: "Marcus has had a funny few years. He's been outstanding at times, yet he's also had quiet seasons. We thought he'd bounced back last season and got back to his best, but this season isn't going so well.
"I find it hard to pick out individuals. I know we all love doing it but look at the recent history of United. In the time since Sir Alex left, I'd struggle to name one player who has got to a certain level and improved since then.
