After weighing up a couple of angles, the officials in Stockley Park decided to overturn the on-field decision and award a goal kick. At the time, plenty of United fans were unhappy with the tight call and voiced their concerns on X.
And they're now even angrier after a new angle of the decision was published on Reddit. The image shown below appears to suggest the whole of the ball might not have been out of play, though it's a very close call.
One fan wrote: "This is insane, how can they rule it out when they don't have a picture from above the ball? Disgrace." Another wrote: "This camera isn’t right on the line which has the goal line going right to left. The line behind the ball is moving left it looks like from where the camera is."
With United behind at the break, Brighton pushed on and would add a second through Pascal Gross after the interval. Joao Pedro made it three with 20 minutes remaining to put the game beyond doubt.
