Manchester rail commuters are likely to face delays or cancellations on train services today after a person sadly died after being found on train tracks.
Emergency services were called to Widnes railways station, at around 10.45am on Friday, January 5. At the scene they confirmed that they found a person on the tracks.
Paramedics attended to carry out medical treatment but the person was pronounced dead. British Transport Police has confirmed that the death is not being treated as suspicious.

National Rail is reporting that services are disrupted due to the police incident. There is no service on Transpennine Express, East Midlands Railway and Northern between Liverpool Lime Street and Warrington Central due to emergency services dealing with the incident at Widnes.
Northern trains between Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester Oxford Road are also affected, reports The Echo.
National Rail said: "All stations between Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester Oxford Road will not be served. East Midlands Railway are currently looking at alternative arrangements to keep you on the move.
"Mutual ticket acceptance is in place with Northern between Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester stations. Mutual ticket acceptance is in place with TransPennine Express between Liverpool Lime Street and Sheffield."
A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to Widnes railway station at around 10.45am today (5 January) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
"Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared
