A man has been taken to hospital with head injuries after a 'road rage' incident broke out following a crash. Emergency services descended on Tonge Moor Road, in Bolton, earlier this afternoon (August 1).
Greater Manchester Police says a man has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting another man. It's believed the suspect got out of his vehicle moments after the collision, before carrying out the attack.
Officers have been at the scene for more than two hours. Part of the footpath on Tonge Moor Road is currently taped off while officers carry out their enquiries.

A GMP spokesperson said: "At around 2:50pm on Tuesday, August 1 2023, officers were called to reports of a disturbance on Tonge Moor Road in Bolton. Emergency services attended the scene, and a man was found with head injuries.
"He has since been taken to hospital to receive further treatment. Initial enquiries suggest that shortly after a road traffic collision, the suspect got out of their vehicle and assaulted another man.
“A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of section 18 assault and has been taken to custody for further questioning. A scene will remain in place while officers conduct further enquiries.”
A spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service added: "We were called to a police incident at 2.51pm and have taken a male patient to hospital." GMP is urging drivers to avoid the area this evening, with delays near the junction of Starkie Road caused by the incident.
