A man has been released on bail after a woman was reportedly raped behind a building in Bolton town centre. The alleged sexual assault took place in the early hours of yesterday morning, Wednesday (April 20) just off Bradshawgate.
Officers later arrested a 23-year-old yesterday on suspicion of raping the woman, in her 30's, at around 2.20am behind the Newspaper building in Bolton town centre, off Paley Street. A cordon was in place throughout the morning as police conducted their investigations.
Police were initially called to the back of the building, off Bradshawgate and Churchgate. The incident left the victim 'distressed' and receiving specialist care, according to Greater Manchester Police.

Police today (April 21) said a man has been released on bail and that enquiries are continuing into the incident. Detective Inspector David Sinclair, from GMP’s Bolton district, said: “First and foremost, our thoughts are with the victim who is understandably distressed and receiving the appropriate care and support.
"I’d like to reassure the community and those nearby that we’re carrying out a thorough, detailed investigation and officers will be in the area today following up a number of lines of enquiry."
